Gurmeet Singh going to Prison
Gurmeet Singh (Dera Sacha Sauda) chief has been caught red handed for a rape and is sentenced to 20 years in the prison. Jagdeep Singh is the CBI judge investigating this case.
Gurmeet Singh was convicted for rape on 25th of August. As addressed by the CBI council, “It is 20 years punishment and both the sentences shall not run concurrently. It means, he shall remain inside the jail for 20 years. Court has also imposed a fine of Rs. 30 lakh on Dera chief (Rs. 15 lakh in each of the case of two rapes that he committed). the fine shall be payable Rs. 15 lakh each to both the rape victims)”.
CBI judge, Jagdeep Singh flew in a helicopter to Sunaria Jail. There, a special courtroom was formed to let know about the quantum of sentence in the rape case.
Tight security measures were ensured in this place. Around the Rohtak’s Sunaria jail, a three- tier security ring was installed. A stern warning was sent across states of Haryana, Punjab and Delhi before the announcement of sentencing was made. This was done in order to ensure no violence breaks out after the verdict announcement. Yet, 38 people were killed after the verdict.
Prison Punishment Confirmed
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar confirmed the sentence of 20 years along with 15 lakhs to be paid for each of the two rape victims. After the confirmation, the Army has been presently conducting a flag march in Panchkula. The famous Baba Ramdev also left his opinions on this issue. As reported by ANI, he rightly said that the court has set an example to show that no one can escape the law.
Vipassana Insaan, Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson has appealed to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s followers to maintain peace and non- violence. The news agency, ANI reported that “I appeal to Dera followers to peacefully abide by the judgment today,”
Navdeep Singh Virk, the Rohtak Range IGP said that measures are being taken to ensure that there are no Dera followers allowed to enter Rohtak district or to move around the jail.
