Consumers can pay for choosing of channel only, they don’t need to pay for other kinds of stuff on the television. There’s a big disadvantage for this rule. This will double the price of each and every channel. This price will differ for the region to region in India. The metropolitan cities will have different charges and other rural areas will differ in prices. There will be 100Rs different from the city to the village.

This rule will surely affect the rural areas. There will be a doubled of price for both cable and DTH. The channel groups of different channels have raised the price of each and every channel. For, HD channels extra price will be charged. each channel maxed the price up to 19 Rs.

Now, the average customer pays for the cable is 150Rs but after this rule the customer they want to pay 450-700 Rs. So, there will be a big effect for DTH and cable users. however, with no offers currently on discounting of bouquets (the matter is sub-judice in the Supreme Court) the broadcasters have kept the MRP of popular channels between Rs 15-19. Effectively, even if a consumer decides to pay for 50 popular channels, she will end up paying equal or more than a current monthly bill. TRAI  “We are having less than 15 days away from implementing the change and still, in some of the consumers in rural areas are not aware of this major change.
